Carrie Saulsbery, PhD

Carrie is an experienced pharma and biotech leader with expertise across drug development, spanning from discovery and translational research to clinical development, with an emphasis on immunology translational medicine for chronic autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.

Before joining Third Arc Bio, Carrie served as chief scientific officer and senior vice president of immunology at IGM Biosciences, where she helped to establish the autoimmunity and inflammation business unit. While there, she built an experienced discovery and translational team and lab capabilities, and established a pipeline leveraging the novel IgM platform for immunologic diseases. Prior to IGM Biosciences, Carrie spent 16 years with Janssen R&D, where she supported the translational research efforts for multiple approved drugs, including STELARA®, SIMPONI®, and TREMFYA®. She later was the portfolio leader for Janssen Biologics, supporting the discovery pipeline across all therapeutic areas. Carrie gained further experience in drug discovery through roles at Dupont Pharmaceuticals and Incyte, focusing on in vivo assessment of novel molecules in development for the treatment of inflammatory diseases.

Carrie earned a BS in neuroscience from the University of Pittsburgh, followed by a PhD in pathology from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship in virology at the University of Pennsylvania. Carrie is the author of more than 50 peer-reviewed scientific publications.
